1. What is FreeNET?
A: FreeNET offers technology and maintains list of radio stations that are broadcasting or to be broadcasted over the Internet or a telephone network. We also offer our technology for licensing outside of USA.
2. Why a phone number?
A: FreeNET assigns phone numbers for radio streaming stations. These numbers provide additional access to listeners who wish to dial in to listen without using their mobile broadband service. Furthermore, phone numbers are provided as a convenience to those who are driving or don’t have a data plan associated with their mobile phone. If a number is available, in the country in which you are calling from, one will be provided. If not, you may listen to the streams via internet.
3. May I request a local dial-in number for my country?
A: Please submit your request and if a local number is available or becomes available, we will allocate the dial in number to that specific station.
4. I am a radio station in Ethiopia, why do I need to broadcast in the USA or other countries?
A: Your Diaspora is always hungry to access to your content. They want to know what is going on in their local markets. The dial in number provides low cost access to your content. Users can still continue to listen to your content via Internet stream as long as they have Internet access.
5. What does it cost me?
A: FreeNET’s services are free. Check with your carrier for your data or calling plan rates.
6. If your services are FREE how do you make money?
A: We make money through advertisements.
7. I would like to start my own radio station, how can I do that?
A: Great! There are many companies who provide streaming solutions who may be able to help you in your local markets. If you have positive experience with a company and would like to share, kindly drop us a line and we will keep their information on recommended vendor list.
8. Do provide apps for this service?
A: Yes, we provide iOS and Andriod apps. If you would like to have your own customized app for your radio station, connect us for pricing.
9. How does your cloud communications network work?
A: We provide all of our services in the cloud thus enabling us to be elastic to accommodate large volumes of traffic.
10. How do I add my station and submit my radio stream to FreeNET?
A: Simply click the “Submit Station” link at the bottom of the FreeNET homepage, and provide all the necessary information.
11. I already submitted my radio station, but I do not see it on your website?
A: Thank you for submitting the information. For your security, we review all submitted information and we may contact you to verify the information. In most circumstances, our approval process should take no more than 48 hours.
12. My Radio station is located outside of the USA, can I take it live?
A: Yes, we accept any station from any country to be listed on FreeNET.
13. Do you buy radio rights?
A: We may not buy your rights directly, but we often work with companies who buy those rights for USA, Europe, or Far East. Talk to us, and we might be able to help you.
14. Can you provide funding if needed?
A: We are not in the business of funding your station or marketing campaign, but we can connect or recommend you with Venture Capital firms. We simply want to be enablers regardless of what your needs are.
15. What if, I have a suggestion for updated content and links for the radio station webpage?
A: Great! Just click the “Update Station Information” link and you can input your suggestions. One of our team members will review the information and be in contact if we have any questions.
16. How do I remove my station?
A: Simply click on remove station and submit the necessary information to be removed from FreeNET. Please note that we verify all submissions, and value the privacy and security of our clients. If you are not employed or do not represent the radio station when you submit the information, we will log your IP address and report your false information to the necessary authorities in the USA and your country. Make sure your requests from official station domain emails address.
17. Can I dial out using your numbers?
A: We do not dial out or allow anyone dial/calling out using our numbers. If you are receiving a call from one of our numbers, it’s not possible as we cannot dial out. Some call centers are faking their callerID by using spoofing software to make it look like they are calling from a different number. You should record those calls and report them.
18. I need a host large volume of incoming callers to play a message, Can I do that with Freenet?
A: yes, it’s possible to play a mass announcement to your callers. Contact us on how to do that.
